Bulk Fuel Inventory

Folks,

Holding Bulk Fuel in Inventory and issuing it to a unit and charging the Job the unit is working on. We are thinking of taking the FuelMaster data and interfacing that into JDE to drive the issue....but.....

Easy: Issue 100 Gals / $1 gallon to unit 123 on Job ABC. Job ABC pays for all the fuel.

My question:

Issue same 100 gallons. Unit 123 burns 60 gallons / $60 on Job A and the remaining 40 gallons / $40 on Job B. It could get even more interesting than this if the unit doesn't burn all the fuel and sits idle?

Who out there is handling bulk fuel by way of inventory? and how are you covering the situations where the fuel is burned across multiple jobs? To charge the jobs 'accurately' will need some sort of delayed issue logic that reads the Equipment Time entries over a given period and figures out some form of Job fuel cost allocation......and that presupposes that the fuel drawn from the FuelMaster tank was all used up when the calculation takes place.
