How to check data request (SR) output value for blank or valid value

Hi,

I have a requirement to get value from one table, if it is blank get value from another table.  I tried to achieve through 'Rule' but how to check one of the condition like Equals to Blank or Not equal to blank in out put variable.  Any idea..

Is there any other approach pls suggest.
