upgrade from r12.1.3 to R12.2.5

Dear experts,

If we register the custom schema before applying onine enablement patch,then this patch will enable the editions for all the schemas registered with application including custom schema.Then again why do we need to run adsplice after applying AD/TXK patches?This confused us
