html in AAR descr fields - how to display as links in pdf

Asking for a colleague who posted this in a community forum with little feedback.

When adding hmtl in Academic Advisement report (AAR) description fields, they perform as expected in the online, interactive reports. However, when the same report is viewed via the pdf option, the html comes out looking like this <a HREF="http://www20.xxx.edu/academic/colleges-and-departments/apgs/testing/uwsr/" TARGET="_blank">.

Can someone offer some advice on how to format the html so that it displays as links on the pdf without technical enhancement?
