How to find an unused field in JDE for the item classification in JDE XE version

Dear Experts,

We have received needs to do requirements / updates form client. Could you please help on this given below  required feilds how can we proceed to take actions on this requirement.

Requirement 1-->

     REQ1:  #3 – need to find an unused field in JDE for the item classification, then populate value A/B/C where A=Equipment; B=Batch Managed; C=NOLOT.  These classifications will be used to identify the material type in SAP.  Please identify an unused field available for this purpose .

Requirement 2-->

     REQ2: #5 – update/correct commodity codes in JDE.  Business will provide a list of item numbers along with the correct commodity code. The commodity code must be updated at the Plant and Branch Levels in F4101.imprp1 and F4102.ibprp1 respectively.
