ORACLE 12.2 Higher Memory Consumption of Oracle Processes

Dear All,

after Updating from Oracle 11.2x to 12.1 the we recognized a slightly higher Memory consumption of about ~20% to ~30% [Oracle 11.2:  ~200MB/Proc., Oracle 12.1 ~ 25 -300 MB/Proc.]

After the Upgrade to Oracle 12.2.0.1 in average every Oracle DB-Process occupies ~400 MB, which brings smaller Systems (~20 GB RAM) into swapping.

Is this a normal behavior of Oracle 12.2? Is it possible to reduce the Memory Usage of Oracle 12.2 by configuration?

The Databases are used in a SAP-Environment, and the Configuration is based on SAP-Suggestions.

Thanks for any Remarks!

Best Regards

Rainer
