in R12 is there any functionality to accelerate depreciation on an asset other than by changing life

We have a requirement to place an asset in sort of a 'retirement on hold' while we search for a new disposals vendor. In this state want to completely depreciate the assets so that NBV = 0. What are my options other than doing unplanned depreciation or changing the asset's life to force acceleration?
