Purge old data from PeopleSoft HCM

Hi-

I'm curious if any customers out there routinely are purging old data out of their PeopleSoft HR/Payroll systems after the data is significantly past your record retention policies? We have been on PeopleSoft for a couple of decades and short of a couple of special circumstances, we have not removed these records and I think we should. Curious what pointers you have.  Do you retain a way of easily knowing someone did work for you but has now been removed?
