Collaborate-send email

Hi, I've just read Doc ID 1960267.1 which was helpful.  My question though that I didn't see there is about which screens you should and should not send email links from. 

For instance, I go into a work order and send the link from inside the work order form W17714A.  I click on the link and make a change, but the change is not saved.

However, if I send the link from the WO inquiry screen, form W48201F, I click on the link, pull up my WO, make my change and it's saved.

Does this Collaborate-send email functionality only work by sending a link to an inquiry screen, which then the user needs enter their data selection, find and open?
