Endianness migration and ASM

We are migrating off HPUX (BIG Endianness) DB version Oracle Enterprise 12.2 to RedHat 7x (little) same DB version Oracle Enterprise 12.2 and we want to go to ASM.

My question is should we seperate this in two steps, Migrate to RedHat then once up and running, migrate to ASM.

My thought of seperating the 2 steps is if issue come about it will be easier to solve an issue. Also we can minimze downtime migrating to ASM with online datafile moves.
