eBenefits - way to limit what dependent types can be added to a plan

eBenefits - is there a way to limit certain benefit_plans so that only certain types of dependents (like a spouse) can be added to something like a spouse life plan?  As ours looks right now it appears employees can add their child dependents to it as well.  Maybe we're missing some setup?  Thanks in advance for your assistance.
