Direct retro distribution with negative amounts

Hello, I am trying to run a direct retro distribution for deductions with a negative amount.  An employee had some deductions refunded and I want to change the funding source.  The only deduction that are selected for the retro are the one's with a positive amount.  Does a retro work with negative amounts?  Thank you.
