LDOM update to 11.4, and non-global zone question

edited Oct 9, 2019 4:43AM in Oracle Solaris System Administration (MOSC) 4 commentsAnswered ✓

Hi!

Oracle supports 11.3 zones only as kernel zones on a 11.4 global release.

Let's say my (LDOM) global zone runs with 11.3, and there are 11.3 NGZ installed on it (not kernel zones!), and also Solaris 10 zones, which is the case on our company.

What happens to these 11.3 NGZ (and Solaris 10 zones) if I decide I want to update the LDOM global zone to 11.4 ?

Will the upgrade stop, because NGZ are installed?

Or do I have to stick to 11.3 NGZ zones, as long as I have 11.3 as a LDOM global release?

Or do I have to migrate the 11.3 NGZ to kernel zones as a 1st step, before I can upgrade the LDOM global zone to 11.4 ?

Howdy, Stranger!
