Oracle 12.1 Datapump slow with Peoplesoft databases

We are on Oracle 12.1.0.2.2 with Peoplesoft HCM 9.2. Our data pump job is taking hours to finish. When running from a script file, the log says the job is complete within 1/2 hour but it isn't complete because the script is still running and it is running through the tables slowly with ' table x  exported'. It seems that for each table it's running a select query against the data pump system table. So even though the job says it's complete the job doesn't end for a couple more hours.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior with a Peoplesoft database or any other database with thousands of empty tables? I have an SR open but they haven't been helpful as of yet.
