Upgrade path to OKV 18c

Does the upgrade path for OKV 18c support a direct upgrade from 12.2 BPx , or is it advisable to go do a 2 step upgrade from 12.2 BP pre 9  to BP9 and then to OKV 18c?

I recall reading about this before but can't find any links or info on it now.
