Is ‘Oracle Deposits’ the correct solution for making down payments?

We currently use a third party system for our property management. We are looking at the 'Oracle Deposits' Functionality as a solution for making down payments and wondered if this was the best option out there. If it is we have the following questions around its capability:

1. We would like the 3rd party system to determine the invoices to be posted through Accounts Receivable Integration with Oracle. Will Oracle fully manage the consumption of the deposits and reflect this in the payment terms of the invoice or will the 3rd party system need to know the deposit balances in order to instruct Oracle?
