Standby Database Does Not Receive Redo Data from the Primary Database

Hello ,

it's my understanding that a standby database will receive Redo Data only when the standby database is started. Or in other words: the Redo Log Data will not get shipped to the standby site as long as the standby database is down. First of all I would like to clarify if my understanding is correct.

Background: due to maintenance reasons we will shut down our standby database for several hours (and the listener of the standby database as well). We have tested this scenario in our Acceptance environment and noticed that as long as the standby database is down the Redo Log Data gets not shipped from the primary site to the standby site. After the restart of the standby database the Redo Log data gets shipped and the standby database starts processing this data. Due to the amount of data and a longer outage we would prefer that the Redo Log Data gets shipped

Howdy, Stranger!
