Extent of Manufacturer Part Number in Discrete Manufacturing

Hello Community

Our company relies heavily on Manufacturer Part Numbers for the purpose of ordering, tracking etc.

On 12.1.3 at the moment and we find we have to customize a lot of what we require to get Manufacturer Part Numbers to show wherever we can.

We are looking to upgrade to Oracle 12.2 and wanted to know whether there is a further extent of uses for the Manufacturer Part Number in Oracle, such as BOM, WIP etc. rather than just being recorded and searchable in Inventory/Procurement?

If anyone has had a chance to look into this already, any information that can be shared would be greatly appreciated.
