Is there a way we could set a notifcation or alarm for an activity whose work order is about to star

Is there a way we could set a notification or alarm for an activity whose work order is about to start or when it's missed? We have some equipment/assets in the plant where there regulatory activities are to be done. These are critical during audits and would be a big factor on giving our company the necessary permits to be able to operate. With this, we want to establish controls on activities for critical equipment where its work orders shouldn't be missed.
