Separate Remittance Advice for Customer Refund

Is there a way to send a separate remittance advice when issuing a customer refund?  We have entered an email address in the Debit Notification Preferences section in the customer form (and selected delivery method = Email), but no SRA was generated.   The same way we notify suppliers when electronic funds are sent, we would like to notify customers via email when issuing refunds.  Is this possible?  If so, what set up is needed on our end?

We are using 12.1.3+.
