How do I set up orchestrator connections for MS SQL Server instances and Excel?

I am trying to create a database connection in orchestrator tools.  Firstly whenever I do try, it doesn't save.  I see a Save Successful notice, but the connection is not saved.

Looking for how to create a connection to Excel (2016) and SQL Server instance PCName\InstanceName.
