It is possible to disable / grey out a chartfield to prevent entry?

Hi - we are on PS 9.2.30 with PT version 8.57.05. We'd like to prevent end users from entering data into the Budget Ref chartfield in Asset Management in all pages / components where it appears. These are Classic Plus pages. Is this possible? Would this be done through ChartField Security?

I will also ask this question in the PeopleTools forum.Thank you.

Example: Budget Ref field on Cost / Information tab of Asset Express Add page...
