Is it possible to disable / grey out a chartfield to prevent entry?

Hi - we are on PS 9.2.30 with PT version 8.57.05. We'd like to prevent end users from entering data into the Budget Ref chartfield in certain modules (such as Asset Management). This field should only be editable in Commitment Control. Would this be done through ChartField Security? Thank you!
