Configuring EPM 11.1.2.4 using custom jdbc url vs Oracle Dataguard

A customer whould install all EPM modules using custom jdbc url to connect to Oracle Dataguard as per Doc ID 1359130.1, but this document is referred to EPM 11.1.2.2. Is this configuration supported also for 11.1.2.4.x version ? Is there a more recent document to provide them ?
