where do objects with illegal references go?

Doing upgrade from R12.1.3 to R12.2. The patch enablement status report shows a number of objects with ERROR status- ORA-38818 illegal reference to editioned object (during ad_zd_mview.upgrade). The upgrade guide indicates errors need to be resolved before proceeding. I can see what the issues are - but the objects do not show up under dba_objects anymore. Were they removed in the upgrade process? How would I fix  these objects then? Just recreate them with corrections in the references?
