Batch process to update status codes

Is there a batch process that can be used to update status codes (i.e.P42040)?

I want to setup data selections for line items at a certain status and certain line type and run it to update status codes from 524 to 540.  If this doesn't exist, can you think of any other way to update status codes besides P42040?

What we really need is to be able to update the status code when a hold code is released (i.e.P43070)..
