How to stop PMs during shut down

We have a situation where we don't need 500+ PM work orders during the Plant Shut down period that occurs twice during the year. These are weekly Inspection work orders and we don't need these PM WO as the equipment are not running. We could stop running the Generate PM program, but the issue is, when we Re-start the program, it generates the old PM Work Orders, because the last service date is still the old date. your suggestions are appreciated
