How to find the existence of Special Characters

Hello all,

I am trying to put some custom code behind P4310 to restrict VR01 field. Users will enter a contract number there and it will have certain special characters such as -, but we want to restrict most of the special characters.

Without the Business Function documentation, it is hard for me to find a business function to use. I am thinking of using a UDC to put the restricted characters, that way we can maintain that easily. We will have to wait till the weekend to build the BSFN documentation.

What is a good business function to use and can you give me the parameters to pass too. Or do you know of a good online resource which has the documentation?
