Trying to dispose of an asset and the disposal code is grayed out and can't be changed. Can someone

While trying to dispose of an Asset - the disposal code is grayed out and can not be changed.  Can someone explain why this is happening?  Does it have anything to do with Lease Management being installed but not being used?  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
