P12141 For fully disposed asset

Hello,

our users are asking why we need to set up in the P12141 balance character code for an asset that has no proceeds, fully depreciated.When the usual accounting treatment is to debit all accumulated depreciation and credit the fixed asset. IN the current set up we have to offset to a net book value account Bal Character code 7. Is this the only way to dispose of a fully depreciated asset? WE need a offset to the net book value account?
