Maximum Serial Number length reached

Dears

I am doing Misc Transaction for Serial controlled items at Reciept. At the time of entering serial numbers I am getting error message = 'Maximum Serial Number length reached'.

I am just trying to receive 9000 Items and Serial Number Starting =10/991001 ending with = 10/1000000.

i can not find setup which is controlling length of serial numbers. Please help.

PS.

my starting Serial in item setup is 000000001.
