How does system Creates AR Credit Memo with Adjustments done

Hi

can you let me know how does the AR Adjustment function creates a Credit Memo when user does the Adjustments in AR Transactions.

I believe it only creates a offset Journal Entry as per the Activity selected and not a Credit Memo.
