impact of the utl_file_dir - 12.2.0.1

Hello There, first of all I am hoping that I am posting under right section of the community. To give you a bit of description, we are trying to setup the import of admissions applications into our databases and it requires utl_file_dir so we have tried to add it to the spfile however the database is now erroring on startup complaining about an obsolete (deprecated) parameter. We have been told to ignore it as it's just a warning and it is still supported in oracle 12.2. My question is, is there any impact that this might have on the database
