ASM: Online Resize of Existing LUNs

I haven't used Oracle ASM since 10g days and even then it was limited exposure. I have a dedicated VMWare cluster licensed just for our Oracle environment.  I am testing out on a stand-alone virtual host running Oracle Linux 7.7 with GI 19.6. The VM is backed by an all-flash storage array and the disk is VMFS. I was testing an online resize of an existing LUN then resizing the ASM diskgroup on top it. Yes, I know it's possible to add a new LUN into the ASM disk group but that's not what I'm trying to achieve. The OS
