What is the field PDCNID (Container ID) in F4311 used for?

I see this field in the PO Detail F4311 - PDCNID (Container ID) and I am wondering what it is used for?  Does JDE have any future plans for this field?

We have a need to track incoming containers as we import a lot of our product from China.  My user currently keeps track of what's on these containers using a variety of spreadsheets.  This would be the perfect field to use to write some custom code that would allow the users to "containerize' the POs.
