Mask sensitive data

We have payroll and the HR modules all set in E1 9.1. Is it possible to hide the sensitive information like social security, date of birth, etc. so that they aren't displayed on the screen? If we do set up masking the sensitive columns, does it in any way impact the other processes like the address book or are there any bugs that we need to be aware of with masking the columns?
