Possible to split single Item so they can be picked and packed differently?

EBS Order Management   R12.1.3

We have Customer Item numbers matched to Internal Items on a 1:1 basis.

When we receive the order we process that and pack it on a standard general container.

There is a new requirement where the customer wants to be able to control what size of container the items get sent out to them in.

So we receive a Sales Order for Qty 1000 of a single item.

200 of them are to be packed in a container SIZE A.

300 in container SIZE B

500 in container SIZE C.

So the SO needs to have three lines for the same ITEM with Quantites 200, 300 and 500 so that at the picking stage they can be packed according to the original customer requirements.
