How can I make a UDA (User Defined Attribute) view only?

How can I create UDAs (User Defined Attributes) in such a way as to make them view only?  I have assigned the newly created UDAs to a view only responsibility. The supplier pages are all view only with the exception of the newly created UDAs.  The current functionality will allow me to edit the UDA content, but not Save the changes. While this is a work around and will work to prevent the user from changing the values, I would rather that the UDA page act the same as the rest of the Supplier pages.  See but not touch.
