Absence Hours Not Distributed

Our absences load to PSHUP, and subsequently pay lines, without distributing hours/earnings based on earnings distribution in job. Is this as designed or are we missing configuration that would send the absences to PSHUP distributed? I see a Paysheet Update Distribution checkbox on the Update Paysheet Transactions page that is not flagged on our absence transactions, but I can't find documentation on this field to know if it would cause the absence earnings to distribute correctly on pay lines even if it was selected.
