Issue Installing VMware tools

I am having an issue installing VMware tools on Oracle Linux 6.9. I have tried running through the KB article, and it acts like it installs, but after a reboot, NO VMware tools. Any thoughts. We upgraded to VMware 6.5 about a year ago and the tools haven't worked since. Which not a huge deal, cause more of time we don't do anything in the GUI anyway, but now we are needing to do something stuff in the GUI and can't.
