We are unable to fail a GL Web ADI Upload even though we have marked Period name as a required field

We are unable to fail a GL Web ADI Upload even though we have marked Period name as a required field. This is somehow working in Development instance but not in test.

We have created a custom integrator and have made Period name , Journal Reference as required field. we are unable to change the "Not Null" field to be checked since its an Oracle real field. But even though Period Name and Journal Ref have been marked as Required, out test instance allows the upload to complete and fails at the Journal import. However, in a development instance the error that Period Name cannot be blank is accurately displayed during the Upload process. what step are we missing?
