Best practices for importing prepaid orders from feeder system

We currently import orders from a feeder system.  We do not currently use prepayments.  We are looking to implement functionality in our feeder system to take credit cards.  Can the credit card validation happen in the feeder system, and then orders imported into OM, along with the prepayment (already authorized)?  What are the setups and process for doing this?
