restore 12c backup of standby database

Hello,

Our backups are configured where PROD xfers logs to the standby database on DR. RMAN backups are taken from the DR box for performance reasons.

What I need to do is restore from backup (PITR) to a new database on the same DR box.

I'm running 12c DB, X5-2 ODA and 18.3 GRID.

I've tried a "target-less" duplicate but it errors out on the spfile.

Is there an "easy" way to accomplish this with 12c (and above)?
