How to deactivate or close Companies not in use

Hi All

Although some companies had been decommissioned and closed, we came to learn last week that a couple of new hired employees were assigned to these companies and would like to explore the option of renaming them in a way that it clearly reads that the companies are already closed, to preven this from continuing to happen.

We were wondering if there is any other way that we can use to identify the closed companies?. As a workaround for now we tagged with a simple (C) at the end of the descripcion, the closed company .

We cannot add just ‘do not use’ there because we need to see the actual company name for any historical financial reports.
