Can Credit limit checks be stopped once product has shipped?

cash only customer, credit card is authorized, order is released, order ships, freight update adds a freight charge and the order goes back on hold. Even if we run R42550, the customer may have other exposure greater than credit limit. But the order has already shipped, putting it on hold only prevents the billing, not the shipping. What sense does this make? the order is out the door, should not go back on hold due to a freight charge - we need to bill it!
