Will modifying Bank Name in Oracle R12 have any impacts ?

Hello Experts,

We have a requirement in Oracle R12 where we need to change the name of a Bank as it has been acquired by another one. We see that, changing the name is automatically reflecting at Supplier level but have the below questions.

1) Is it a correct practice to change the name of an existing bank ? (OR)

2) Is it advisable to setup a new Bank, tag the branches of old one to new one and disable the old bank ? - But then I believe we need to update each supplier accordingly .. right ?

3) In case we modify the name, what possible impact can this change cause & how do we identify such ?
