changing Item Segmentation

Hello Expert,

I have a question about item segmentation functionality in JDE.

Is it allowed to change the item segmentation's data?

For example :

Item 123 has segmentation HVS - W - 200 - 050 (HVSW200050)

I wanna change it into HVS - W - 315 - 050 (HVSW315050)

We tried to revise one item, but the impact is all of the audit information in many tables changed.

User ID change into user's name and date update change into the day we revise the item.

If a problem occurs, It's hard to track those data anymore.

So, is it allowed or not?

Or is there any workaround if we want to change it without making a new item?
