BI Publisher data comparison

I would like to set a comparison of how many days have passed between today and scheduled pick date PDDJ on F4311. I would like to use the function xdoxslt:date_diff(d, <?xdofx:sysdate()?>, PDDJ , _$ XDOLOCALE, $_XDOTIMEZONE)?>) that doesnt seem to be working.
