Impact of having Build in WIP attribute for Raw material in process industry

We are a process enabled organization currently on 12.2.9. We are in the process of implementing ASCP and as part of that we want to turn the Build in WIP attribute for the products. I understand that this is a status controlled attribute that is turned on based on BOM Item type (standard) and Inventory flag. By default all our items (products and ingredients) have the BOM item type set to standard. If we decide to enable this for some of the item statuses, then this attribute would be enabled for raw material as well. How does enabling this flag
