Online patching as an option ?

Hi,

Until now I've worked only on version 12.2.4 to 12.2.6 and to my knowledge it is mandatory to use online patching. One of my customer is asking me if, on the last EBS versions (12.2.9 and 12.2.10), this feature is still mandatory or is it possible to setup it as optional ?
